NAME: Head Mistress
AGE: 407 years old
GENDER: Female
SCHOOLING YEAR: Staff
SPECIES: Human (psychic)
PLACE OF ORIGIN: Scotland
OVERALL PERSONALITY: She is an extremely protective lady. Her high levels of care towards her students make her anxious whenever anything remotely negative happens to them, which is also why she tries to maintain a somewhat strict discipline in the school. School fights are limited, confrontations as well and respect is the number one rule. Aside from her protective facade, she is a really calm and open lady (on limited subject matters) and places others above all. She will always make sure to make you feel like you belong and are welcome. Feel free to pass by her office at anytime.
Just ... don't anger her.
LIKES: Quiet; Calm; Discipline; Respect
DISLIKES: Chaos; Arguments; Fights; Technology
STRENGTHS: She deeply cares for her students, which enables her to go through great lengths and challenges in order to save them; Her great experience enables her to keep calm in chaotic situations as long as needed; She has contacts all across the world who can keep her updated about the changes taking place in the world.
WEAKNESSES: She's erratic; She is crippled for a certain amount of time, after a vision; She blames every lost and defeats on herself
FEARS: Death of her students; Foreseeing the downfall of her school
POWER(S): Telekinesis; Foresight. These powers, although great, are strictly limited to be used for the good of the school. When it comes to foresight, and in order to diminish the chances of being accused of being too powerful, the Headmistress's powers are limited to the foreseeing of the downfall of magic (death of a species, destruction of a living environment, etc.). These visions are quite clear, they enable her to see the location, time and people involved in the event and can even extend to the reading of the thoughts of the victims of the conflict. However, the time at which these visions occur cannot be controlled; they strike her at anytime and place.
The capacity of foreseeing the death of others is what enabled the Headmistress to contact your character before his or her life came to an end.
Be thankful, magical creature!
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Surprisingly, she doesn't seem to be that old. Rumor runs that she is able to live eternally thanks to magical potion of her own. She is a tall woman thinly built with hairstyles and dresses of another century. Harboring the colors of the phoenix (orange, yellow and red shades), she simplified the dresses of the 18th century but still wears them proudly.
HISTORY: As headmistress, there is not much that she has to explain to her students and staff members (AKA, you reader). However, in her great care and compassion, she has decided that the origin of the school is an important part of her past that most should be allowed to know. As your character enters her office for the first time, she offers him/her a seat and a cup of tea. This story does not take ages to be passed down, but there is always a good reason to be a good host and make the newcomers feel at home.
The story of Scholae Elementorum begins around 250 years ago, in times where humanity entered what is today called the industrial revolution. In those dark days, the human walkers of this Earth came to the point where they had to decide whether they would follow the lines of nature or the lines of technology; unknowingly, the choice was also to be made between the protection of magical creatures or the bringing of their downfall. During those terrible and dark years, the human populations grew in numbers, the cities extended to new ends and forests were completely cut to the ground in order to fuel technological innovations or, sometimes, simply clear a new area to build on. It wasn't the best time to be one of the fragile beings that lived in what was considered calm and peaceful forests, or any of those places really. Between the gunshots of fires, the bombing of toxic substances in the water, the explosion of gas in the only remaining breathable specks of air, and so on. Through the thunder of machinery, magical creatures were offered truly limited choices for survival; to migrate to other locations or adapt to these new environments. For some, it wasn't so hard, but for others, death only ensued to the decisions that were made.
For the headmistress, then simply known under her human name, the situation became unacceptable. The Dark Ages had brought the downfall and destruction of a large variety of magical species, she would in no way allow the Industrial Revolution to erase more species from the surface of the Earth. That is when the idea flourished in her mind to build a protected area, a protected place where magical creatures would be able to live in peace; and she knew the perfect location for her project to take place.
In the highlands of Scotland, a rumor was passed through whispers, from village to village, relating the story of a witch who had brought misery and destruction to an entire castle, in a single night. The story went that the witch had been burnt at the stake after asking shelter for the night. Angered by this lack of respect and the stupidity of the men of the castle, she would have woken up from her ashes and burnt the entire place down; killing every single soul with no exception. Rumor runs that one man escaped the blood bath, he walked out of the village and found shelter elsewhere. Still wishing to fulfill her revenge, the witch would still hunt the castle to this day; although 400 years have passed.
Overall, a story to scare poor villagers of neighboring villages and to make sure that no one would ever visit the castle again. Nothing of real importance that would cause harm to the headmistress. After exhausting research and travel across the country, the lady eventually stumbled on the abandoned castle, in quite a pathetic state. The only remaining trace of human life was a flag poorly flying in the wind, and bearing the insignia of the phoenix. Not much to encourage the project, to say honestly, but species were becoming extinct at an alarming rate and centuries of history were lost with every season that passed. For the next decade, the headmistress rebuilt the castle, progressively granted the support of other magical creatures who would hear of the project and place in it their only hope for survival.
In April of 1772, the Scholae Elementorum was officially founded. To this day, it has saved hundreds of species and archived the stories of just as many. You dear student, have just joined this wonderful heritage in the hope that, one day, a reinsertion of the magical culture would be possible, across the world.
On this note, the Headmistress raises from her desk and walks to her bookshelf. After peeking around, she takes out a small book and hands it to you, student or staff member. The small book has the crest of a phoenix on it and is empty for now. She smiles at you and encourages you to fill the pages with important life events up to now and not be shy to add more lines as the years go by.
