NAME: Salathiell - 191970
AGE: Ancient
GENDER: Generally Male
SCHOOLING YEAR: Teacher (Experimental Magyyks and applied spellcasting)
SPECIES: Arcane Spirit
PLACE OF ORIGIN: Last seen in Victorian England among British occultists.
OVERALL PERSONALITY: Serious, dedicated, organized, these are all words that cannot be said of Salathiell. Being an arcane spirit, what he values most is knowledge and its acquisition. He is extremely knowledgable of everything magic (everything hidden actually) and love to share his knowledge. However, since all knowledge is as valuable as any, he is just as likely to teach you how to cure the plague as he is to teach you how to magically shuffle cards.
As a teacher, Salathiell is pretty random. Since he doesn’t completely understand the concept of a schedule, his classes are a bit all over the place, sometimes literally. Indeed, Salathiell loves to change the location of his lectures in order to get the “right atmosphere” for the class’ material. Be sure to watch the Bulletin Board for announcement (even if he tends to write them last minute). However, as long as his students work hard to learn he doesn’t mind absences or lateness.
LIKES: Learning Things, Books, Students, Magic, Experimentations, The smell of leather and paper, Ferrets
DISLIKES: Idiots, Technology, The colour yellow
STRENGTHS: Parlor Tricks, Obscure arcane rituals (he has a ritual for everything), Kind of immortal, he can hold onto his physical form for an enormous amount of time
WEAKNESSES: His physical form is very weak, a few hits will disintegrate it (without inflicting any harm to Salathiell), tend to forget the practical aspect of things, will value knowledge over anything else.
FEARS: The destruction of the arcane by technology, Rubber Ducks
POWER(S): He can perform many feats of magic, from the easiest to the most complicated. He can switch from ethereal form to corporeal form at will. When in ethereal form he can travel at near light speed.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: In his corporeal form he generally looks like a young adult with messy brown hair, with squared glasses, dressed like a modern (slightly hipster) teenager. Adorable.
PLAYBILL: Dylan O’Brien
HISTORY: Salathiell was born from the void when magic was first domesticated by a sentient race. From then on, he travelled learning everything he could about arcane knowledge as it was discovered. He passed some time with almost every civilisation that ever mastered magic. More recently he spent a lot of time in Europe in the 14th century with alchemists, living as Nicolas Flamel’s son. He was then seen in the 19th century alongside occultist Aleister Crowley and voodoo witch Marie Laveau. It was then that he discovered the school, attracted by the concentration of magical knowledge that shone like a beacon in the night to him. He has been teaching there ever since.
FAMILY: Aside passing as Nicolas and Pernelle Flamel’s son for a while Salathiell has no real family. Some rumours speak of a past love story, another scholar with which Salathiell would have bounded over shared knowledge but this was never confirmed, nor denied.
OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION: His office is actually a pocket dimension in which students can enter through his office door in the school. It physically looks like space, infinite, with faraway stars shining in the distance, with thousands of books floating all over. A business of flying ferrets manage his atypical library and serve as general assistant. It is not unusual for a student to receive a message delivered by one of these peculiar animals.
